Have you suddenly gotten the urge to organise your closets, start a new project, or begin a cleanse? If you have, that is what I call spring energy. I just love spring, except my nose starts to run; my eyes begin to water and itch and I sneeze all day long… LOL Nevertheless, I get a spring in my step and enthusiastic about life again!
How do you know it’s time to start a spring-clean in your body? If you are feeling stuck, indecisive, and/or unable to move forward with ideas or projects, your winter weight has hit an all high and you can’t bear the sight of you, or parts of you when you look in the mirror. It may even reflect on your home and you may want to spring clean your home too whilst you are at it.If we don’t purposely cleanse or fast as spring arrives, the body may naturally begin cleansing itself from excess oils, fats, salt and animal proteins by releasing a flu or cold. Some people may also suffer with odd aches and pains and they don’t know why. This is the body’s way of releasing excess, and/or toxins, and cleaning out.We can aid the body through this natural cleansing process by eating lightly prepared meals (steamed, sautéed, blanched and raw foods), less food overall, eliminating animal products for a specific period of time, or fasting from food entirely. The springtime, I believe, is the best time of year to go “vegan” or “vegetarian” for a while. Through my research I found traditionally, in many cultures around the world there has been some type of cleansing or fasting process, specifically in the spring. This apparently helps lift the weightiness of winter physically, emotionally and spiritually. Some examples include the Orthodox Greeks who fast from animal foods for up to seven weeks during the spring. They abstain from animal proteins and interestingly wine and olive oil is also restricted. The Catholics fast for 40 days prior to Easter, which they call lent. Lent is a period of fasting, moderation, and self-denial. During Lent, participants eat sparingly or give up a particular food or habit. It’s not uncommon for people to give up smoking during Lent, or to swear off watching television or eating candy or telling lies. It’s six weeks of self-discipline.This fast also includes eating lighter meals and abstaining from meat on Fridays. Yogis practice austerity with their diets. They believe fasting changes the polarity of the physical body while raising its energetic sensations. They explain, toxins reside in the body’s fat stores, so when they fast, they become cleansed of these toxins, which make way for the attraction of higher spiritual vibrations.Shamans fast during vision quests. During these types of spiritual fasts, it is advised to pray or seek guidance. These two simple acts of worship (fasting and prayer) helps lighten the load on the digestive system, and open the body/mind/spirit to receive guidance and direction. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the spring correlates with the Liver and Gallbladder meridians. Reducing animal proteins, as well as fasting supports the healing and renewal of these organs in the process. It seems religions around the world and traditional healing therapies have some commonality.Although I am not fascinated with much of the habits of many of the religions I mentioned above, it fascinates me that we all understand the cleansing perspective of health. There are many other aspects to health, which I will be teaching you as we move forward together in uncovering the body and its functions. It is a very good idea to cleanse every spring. I do three to five days of colon cleansing, which I highly recommend to all my clients. I choose as little as 3 – 5 days, because my body is healthy. You know your body better than I do, so will know how much cleansing you need. I also recommend doing a gallbladder cleanse if you feel heavy, tired, unhealthy and spiritually flat. Lets get on with it to love learn’n, live the life that was designed for us!!!

Many people will be getting the spring allergy called "hay fever" as in some parts of the world it is now spring. You may think these allergies come from something outside of our body, but that’s not necessarily true.
Allergies can be an indicator that your internal environment, your organs and your digestive system, may be out of balance. If this is the case, your body is very likely overwhelmed with toxins and excess mucus due to your diet and lifestyle choices. Register for my news letter, where I show you:

Spirituality is one of the four important primary foods FIVE GENUINE SIGNS OF A SPIRITUAL AWAKENING All human beings are created with a hole in their heart. We thrash around looking to fill this need that we don’t understand, with all sorts of worldly things like new clothes, food, jobs, relationships, holidays. When it can only be filled through the mindset in the spirit. A place many of you probably are or have been, as was I. 1. LOVE You may sense a change developing within yourself. You used to be a difficult, moody, angry type of guy/gal, but now you want to love and be loved. This has nothing to do with sex, or friends. This is a genuine, unconditional love that you begin to feel on multiple levels. You can now love a person who may be awful towards you and others. 2. PEACE There is a profound sense of peace, calm or serenity that comes over you. When this feeling comes, you don’t stop to question what it is and where it is coming from, so you move back and forth from this calm into the old fearful ego mind. It is only when you choose to question and choose to want the love, peace, calm and serenity, will those feelings become a reality and not just a feeling. We then find the deeper feelings that fear, anger, shame, guilt etc. have been constantly disturbing, start to settle down. Each time we feel unsettled again, it becomes easier to see what it is as this inner peace expands. The inner peace brings clarity. 3. CLARITY With this wonderful combination of love, peace and clarity, you begin to realise some of the depth of your errors, as well as the expansiveness of your talents. This profound realisation brings you to changes that occur organically. You are now able to discern what is kind and what is unkind, what is right and what is wrong, what is helpful and what is damaging. This level of clarity can take on surprising levels of sensitivity, where you may start to realise how certain foods make you feel. You realise how consuming these foods are not in integrity with loving your body. The clarity then grows deeper, as you now engage with it further and you start to see your primary foods are not in harmony with YOU! This now brings you to taking action and sorting through your primary foods. You may find you start letting go of habits, relationships that don’t serve you and even perhaps a career shift. To deny this sense of clarity tends to bring a great deal of confusion, apathy and upset feelings. For more on this topic, feel free to contact me. 4. INDEPENDANCE I know this desire and need all too well. The need for the big Prado Grande or Z4 BMW or Mercedes, the need for 600 pairs of shoes and clothes that need a whole bedroom of their own. Suddenly the realisation that you don’t need some of the things you thought you needed. Most of the world is operating through the concept of needing external things to make us feel good. It is quite a mellowing feeling to suddenly move from dependence to independence promoting spiritual principals above feelings, which is a sign of maturity. You may decide to give lots away or donate it to charity as you realise lots of things burden and clog up your life. Initially it might feel strange to have this feeling, but as you relax into this space, it simply feels good to not need so much. And get rid of things. What I did was sell off my worldly goods and use the money to clothe and feed the less fortunate. I still am running this ministry and will be going around Perth soon giving out blankets and food as the cold weather is now just beginning. It is an illusion that we need relationships, jobs, vacations etc. to make us happy. We need to learn to be happy on our own before we can be happy with someone else. Most people think they need someone else to make them happy and that is why so many marriages end in divorce. They married out of dependency and not independency. 5. MINDSET IN THE SPIRIT Finally, mindset in the spirit apposed to mindset in the flesh is what we should be seeking. If when you first experience the LOVE, PEACE and CLARITY, you stop to question, you will obtain mindset in the spirit. If you choose to ignore those first feelings, you will be stuck in mindset in the flesh whilst you are too busy trying to build the big bank account, mansion, get that car, wardrobe, woman/man, best clubs, restaurants, and so on. You may still feel those wonderful feelings of bliss come up, but ignore them, so sadly the window of opportunity will close and you are right back where you started. Your heart is hardened and you shut out truth, but what is the good of that? You choose to cling to illusion and lies, yet the truth of our love is erupting and the illusion and lies brings suffering. Why do you think the lies will satisfy you after tasting truth? Sadly, we are a society lost deep in delusion. Today I just want to encourage you to let go of the lies and delusion. Take hold of that LOVE, that PEACE, that CLARITY, that INDEPENDENCE, and take hold of the MINDSET IN THE SPIRIT. This spiritual awakening that occurs in some people’s lives allows them to glimpse this need as the things of this world become strangely dim. Worldly desire has lost its strong hold on us and we can now look towards God’s plan for our Salvation. I am sure you are all feeling as excited as I am for the weekend, perhaps for different reasons.
Friday is fabulous for me because it is a reminder I am preparing for a day of rest, which so happens to be tomorrow. So what is so fabulous about Friday you may ask yourself? Lighten up; it’s just a name. I believe everyday should be fabulous. If not, then it is time to assess what is going on in your life. Have you ever heard of “Primary Foods”? Think back to a time when you were passionately in love. Everything was exciting. Colours were vivid. You were floating on air, gazing into your lover’s eyes. Your lover’s touch and your shared feelings of exhilaration were enough to sustain you. You forgot about food and were high on life. Remember a time when you were deeply involved in an exciting project. You believed in what you were doing and felt content and stimulated. Time seemed to stop. The outside world faded away. You didn’t feel the need to eat. Someone had to come by and remind you. Now think of a time when you were depressed or your self-esteem was low and you were starving for primary food. Even in good times when we come home at night, we often look into the refrigerator for something to eat, when all we really want is a hug or someone to talk to. Imagine children playing outside with friends. At dinnertime the mother reminds the children, “Time to come in and eat.” “No mommy, I’m not hungry yet,” they respond. At the dinner table, the mother feels that her role is to enforce the rules of good nutrition and instructs the children to eat their food. Eventually, the children force down a minimally acceptable amount of food and rush out again to play. At the end of the day, the kids return, exhausted, and go to sleep without thinking about food at all. • Elements such as a meaningful spiritual practice, an inspiring career, regular and enjoyable physical activity, and honest and open relationships that feed your soul and your hunger for living all constitute primary food. • Every spiritual tradition that encourages people to fast during the year does so that individuals have time to reduce secondary food, thus allowing for a greater awareness of primary food. The more of our primary food we receive, the less we depend upon secondary food. The opposite is also true. The more we fill ourselves with secondary food, the less we are able to receive the primary food of life. Nutrition is a secondary source of energy. Primary foods, or nonfood sources of nourishment, are what really fuel us. Please take the time to explore your primary foods and reflect upon which one/s need some attention… Remember, everyday should be fabulous!! I guarantee you if you create static and compartmentalisation inside your nature, you will never find your voice. The attitude of 1. Criticism 2. Comparing 3. Complaining 4. Competing 5. Contending THESE ARE 5 FIVE EMOTIONAL CANCERS Steven Covey calls them metastasising cancers… 1. Criticism – disapproving someone or something on the basis of perceived faults or mistakes: Try looking at people from a more approving and appreciative perspective. Try to see the positives in them and stop looking for the negatives. You will probably surprise yourself at how different the people you may have previously judged actually are, based on the shift in your own attitude. 2. Comparing - estimate, measure, or note the similarity or dissimilarity between: There will always be a better person than yourself, smarter, more attractive, financially more secure, more educated. BUT so what? Again, try to see a person for who they are, not for who the other person is. We don’t choose our partners based on the fact they are much more than the other one was, we don’t have a friend and think, I wish she could measure up to me, or my friend in Switzerland. 3. Complaining - expressing dissatisfaction or annoyance about almost everything, instead of just enjoying things for what they are. Why couldn’t you make me tea instead of coffee, be grateful that he went out of his way to make you anything. We think the grass is greener on the other side, BUT NO - it is greener where you water it… 4. Competing - not for a sport or a marketplace, but for a sense of your own self worth. Think about that one and really try to see yourself for who you truly are… Others will if you are genuine. You don’t always have to be speaking up about your self. Let others shine in the conversation. 5. Contending – the spirit of contention – a mean spirited argumentative kind of contentious attitude. With which many of us oppose other’s opinions. Do you support other’s ideas or do you automatically by habit present an opposing possibility? Well I am going to challenge you today to take a good look at yourself. 1. Criticise - yourself and work out how you can make a change in this attitude 2. Compare – yourself to others and work out why they have genuine friends 3. Complain – to yourself about how tired you are of being this person you are 4. Compete – with someone who has high values, morals and ethics… 5. Contend – with who you are and may you become the best you can be! Rescript an example of a common negative thought process you have for each one of the above in your journal – with the person you most often have that with. Put it into practice, the next time you see these ugly cancers showing up, shut them down before they metastasise. One of the greatest tragedies in medical history is that most people wait till their mouth is dry before they believe their body needs water. This huge mistake has cost society dearly. We know that water is essential to life, yet many believe water has no health benefit. I once visited a Dr who told me I need to drink 1 litre of any liquid, including tea and coffee. "OH MERCY!!" "Water is not a choice, it is a matter of life and death." Just as much as food and air. Our body's instinctively craves these three elements; food, air and water for survival. I challenge anyone who lives on soda and does not drink water to buy a plant and feed it on soda and not water and watch what happens. Your plant will not survive and neither will your body, if you continue to go without water. Water is a great healer, in and out and most of my clients are surprised at how their health improves when they start to drink lots of fresh, clean water. One thing that really blows my mind is that drug-based medicine teaches that water is nothing more than an inert solvent the body uses to transport the solvent (minerals, proteins, enzymes, etc.) around the body. I beg to differ. Water is far from inert. The blood is made up of a large percentage of watery serum, our cells cannot survive without an adequate supply of fresh, clean water. As my Dr many years ago once told me "any liquid is better than none" please do not be fooled. Your body needs good fresh clean water not soda, tea, coffee or beer! If your body is not hydrated with a sufficient supply of water, it will begin to ration the water available in your organs, bones and skin and cut back on certain functions to make the supply go around. Your brain is an essential system which will be prioritised while other organs will be rationed and that is when symptoms will arise. Sadly, the symptoms will be treated with medication whilst the underlying deficiency goes uncorrected, which in turn causes other issues. We now have a vicious cycle to deal with. You become chronically dehydrated, heavily medicated and as a living being not even rated!!! Water is used for digestion, detoxifying cells, watering the lungs, keeping the body alkalised and a host of cleaning duties. You need in excess of 2 litres of water daily in order for your body to perform all these tasks. The bodies many cries for water are asthma, allergies, diabetes, arthritis, angina, stomach upsets, chronic intestinal complaints and other degenerative illnesses. These complaints are usually dramatically improved when a consistent and long-term intake of fresh, clean water is introduced. Here are a few vital reasons to value your water intake. • Water clears toxic waste from different parts of your body transporting it to the liver and kidneys for disposal. • Water is the main lubricant in your joints, which helps prevent arthritis, also making your spinal disks 'shock-absorbing water cushions'. • Water prevents constipation, due to it's lubricating and laxative effect. • Water helps reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes, preventing clogging of the arteries in the heart and the brain. • Water is essential for the body's cooling (sweat) and heating (electrical) systems. • Water gives us power and electrical energy for all brain functions, particularly our thinking. (Most people who complain about fogginess, are usually chronically dehydrated.) • Water can help prevent attention deficit disorder in children and adults. (Although we need to look seriously at a child's diet when diagnosed with ADD and ADHD.) • Water helps reduce stress, anxiety, depression and decreases premenstrual pains and hot flushes in women suffering with symptoms of menopause. • Dehydration prevents sex hormone production - one of the primary causes of impotence and loss of libido. • Water helps prevent the loss of memory as we age. It helps reduce the risk of Alzheimer's disease, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease and motor neurone disease. Start to revise your body's water usage now before it is too late. You will need to increase your intake for at least 10 days before you are likely to feel the desire to drink the desired amount of water, and before the body will trust that it's water supply will come from your mouth and will stop robbing other areas. Remember you will have to increase your water intake if, you increase your activity, you eat more cooked foods, if you drink more tea/coffee/alcohol/soda, if you eat more processed foods, more sugary foods, if you have more stress, if you are ill, if you are on medications. If you eat more raw salads and fruits, you can decrease your water intake. Keep drinking! “WATER” It’s properties even keep you looking and feeling younger… This is becoming a hot topic and so it should!

'If I were to die tomorrow, would I feel satisfied with my life?' At this point in your life, you may assume you've got decades ahead. Hopefully, you're right. Still, that's no reason to put off personal fulfillment until later. Make the necessary changes today. 'If you're dissatisfied with your life as it is right now, spending time re-evaluating how you manage your time is important. There are no certainties in life and there may not be a tomorrow, so while setting long-term goals and planning for the future is important, you need to find a way to soak up life.' " What you do matters, but WHY you do it matters more" Would you like to weigh up your life before it is too late? Here are some questions I would like you to reflect on and if you cannot come up with the answers, don't stress, I will help you! 1) What is my unique value? 2) Who inspires me? 3) Who inspires me most? 4) Why do I get up in the morning? 5) How much did I learn today? 6) Who do I love, and have I told and/or showed them lately? 7) What is my definition of success? These are just a few to get you thinking and let's discuss them. It is great to understand yourself. I'd love to hear from you ladies, so let's open up the chat!! Don't think for one second that you are all alone. Everyone has fears at some stage of their lives. Even some of the most successful people have fears.
I have spent a great deal of time with some very successful people at different stages of my life, and found that no matter how successful these people were, they too had many insecurities and fears. The music industry was one of the toughest industries to be in and understand, and then I got into the next most difficult industry, fashion. As a professional singer/entertainer and then fashion designer, I learned a whole lot about myself. Working with these "successful" people with their insecurities and fears, made me lose touch with who I was. I then began to feel equally or perhaps more insecure and full of fear. It was only until I landed in hospital in 2007 and spent almost a year in and out of hospital that I was able to spend time thinking about my life. It was then the most important questions came up for me: "where did I come from"? "what am I doing here"? "where am I going"? Our emotions and our beliefs are often based on assumptions - many of which are not true. Travelling in a busy life on autopilot these assumptions become embedded so deeply, we need another perspective to help us see them clearly in order to let them go. These damaging assumptions are so ingrained that we may even have difficulty catching site of them by ourselves. It is time for you to stop self-sabotaging and unleash your potential! What is that potential? The potential for the happy and productive life you know is waiting for you to walk into. |
